This is another thought for the gal who is going to shorten the Gunne Sax dress for her prom. Try folding the dress up so you don't have to cut it. You may be sorry later. I have slips that my mom bought in the 1950's that you would not see today with all that lace. I folded them up and then styles got longer I could just let out the hem. Prom dresses used to be long dresses. I hope everything works out for you.
