From August, 1967, The Who's Great Shakes radio spot is played, followed by The Who's commercial for the US Air Force. Freaky, huh? Pete Townsend read the pitch from script in both commercials. This aired on Chicago's WCFL with Barney Pip in the DJ chair. It appeared that more than one American rock band or artist (many within draft range) shunned opportunities to record for the armed services, having the British Invaders do it instead.
