These and Dingo boots were the most popular boots to wear for young girls around 1976 where I lived. We didn't think of them as Western-looking, though that seems obvious now, but then country-and-western was kind of "out" in the 70s. And, yeah, guys wore these, too. They were usually in that yellowish beige that was called "natural" or "buff" at the time, but they were also sometimes in browns and even patchworks of leather squares - forest green, cordovan, plus earth tones. Girls wore them with gauchoes/culottes, vests, hooded tops or cowlnecks, etc. And I associated all this with Dorothy Hamill and Toni Tenille-style pageboy or wedge haircuts with winged sides, plus tinted glasses with standard 70s oversized frames that we thought of as "tv screens" at the time.
