From an early 1969 Life magazine: An ad for the Frito Bandito Under the Hat Sweepstakes. A little card with a stenciled sombrero (covering a message if you won a prize) was attached. First prize was $29,999. in cash. There were 29 second prizes, being 1969 Ford Mustang convertibles. Also, 29,990 Kodak camera sets as third prizes.
