Found one of the last Frito Bandito commercials to air on TV. After landing on the moon, astronauts (actors on a soundstage) exit their spacecraft...and see the Frito Bandito leading his burro around, as if he was in the desert. Bandito sets up a parking meter and asks the astronauts for a bag of Fritos as payment for parking on the moon. This aired on the "Cattanooga Cats" cartoon show (1/24/70, ABC). Bandito's days were numbered. By summer, Frito-Lay gave in to pressure by Latino groups to remove him from all packaging and media advertising. Bandito was replaced by another slimy character: W.C. Cornfield (W.C. Fields parody).
