The Fisher Price Little People Play-sets is a very strong collecting category, and shows no signs of slowing down. The contents of the playsets and years of production are well documented. Collectors avidly seek the missing accessories and “little people” to complete their sets. The figures themselves are actually too small for small children nowadays. Fisher Price adopted the “chunky style” to prevent choking hazards. Luckily collectors are keeping the older sets out of the hands of youngsters. The earliest little people had wooded bases and heads, then wooden bases with plastic heads were produced. Eventually, 100% plastic was used. Most of the sets featured colorful printed paper glued to sidewalls of masonite or plastic. Look for sets with minimal bubbling of these lithographs. Also, many figures were irresistible to chew on by toddlers, so avoid parts with bite marks.
