From the prime time TV vault, cartoon spokesman W.C. Frito (Fields) introduces Fandangos in a commercial which aired on "Laugh-In" over NBC (9/20/71). Months after cigarette ads were banned on TV, the networks scrambled to find new advertisers, and the fading Rowan & Martin show was no exception. With the departure of Arte Johnson and Henry Gibson, "Laugh-In" had seen much better days. Even Gary Owens had fewer mock announcements, and no longer interacted with the cast in skits. Fandango was like the Chum Gum of corn snacks. Little promotion and often ignored. By 1974, disappeared from grocery shelves. Fandango was a harder corn chip, intended for adult consumption.
