I've got several pairs, heeled and flat, wooden and the leatherlook ones. All from the early seventies and all with the original high toe bar. I've managed to get a lot of brand new ones from that era off Ebay and the ones that were used I renovated and revarnished. I wear them all the time around the house and whenever I'm on holiday. My wife couldn't see the attraction at first but now accepts that I just love to wear them. i don't understand why Scholl now makes them with almost no toe bar and heel cup. the modern ones are, frankly , expensive rubbish. They don't seem to realise anymore that the toe grip was essential to keeping the sandals on and without that and the heel cup they are massively uncomfortable to wear. If they were still made to the design of the 60s and 70s Scholl would probably still be selling them in their millions. But they cheapened the design and now they are nowhere to be found in stores and no one wears them anymore.
