I had several pairs of Dr. Scholls sandals growing up, and LOVED them, first pair I got in 1973 when I was 7 years old until about 1980 when they stopped making them. My older brother, who was 11 when I was 7, got a pair of sandals in the same store then-- his were were black with metal rings and tire tread like bottoms(not made by Scholls). Both of us wore our new sandals EVERY single time we wore shorts that summer! That was also the summer I got my first crush when I saw Johnny Whitaker in Tom Sawyer. I brought that up since my brother had a hilarious incident at the movie theatre when he startled an nearsighted old codger who thought he was in the wrong restroom (he had really long hair then, about shoulder length). When he explained he was a boy, the guy apologized (though it didn't bother him a bit). Then in 1994, I re-discovered Scholls sandals when they made a comeback, and fell in love with them again-- going back and forth between wearing them and my Birkenstocks in the warm weather. Thanks to everybody here for sharing their memories as well!
