Nate: Post introduced the Crispy Critters variant with pink elephants in early 1966, and this was marked on the box with Linus. YouTube has no commercial video marking pink elephants. The more notable variant (late 1966) was with orange moose, and the "Camp Town Races" song was adapted in that jingle. In old theatrical cartoons, pink elephants were the imagination of a drunk or high person. Crispy Critters discontinued around 1975, but reintroduced in 1987, without Linus the lion. If you're seeking an original flat box marked "with pink elephants," expect to spend a couple $100.
