I had a navy blue one that I bought at an Army-Navy Surplus store in the Redhook section of Brooklyn in the mid-70's. They were cheap (otherwise I could not have afforded one.) I believe mine was unused, but you could also buy second hand ones at the store that had been used by actual service members. Some of these still had name tags on them. They were 100% wool, itchy as heck, and yes, they stunk like wet sheep when you got caught in the rain. I still felt cool though!
