Oh yes, I remember the corn suckers. They were so sweet and full of flavor. When held up to the light you could see the coin inside the wrapper. I would quickly lick to the center in hopes of finding a quarter; which was rare but not impossible. I'm just glad to chime in with you all that remember how sweet it was back in the day and seemingly it was native to down south because folks in the other neck of the woods have no idea what I'm talking about!!
