In the 1960s my family would take a couple trips a year to DeWitt, Arkansas to visit my mom's relatives. My sister and I always looked forward to getting corn suckers at an old neighborhood store near my aunt's house. I remember not all of them had a coin inside, but the ones that did usually had a nickel. I can remember occasionally finding corn suckers in other areas, but if my memory is correct it was always on road trips passing through rural areas. I don't remember ever finding corn suckers in the Dallas area where we lived.
