Comments left:	My grandfather used to make these at his candy shop in Waco TX...it was the Blackburn Candy Co. I always thought he invented these suckers...we used to go visit him and he would dump piles of change on the floor and tell us to wrap it for his suckers! When we were little, we would go to various shops and drop off their "shipment" of corn suckers...she was a "distributor" we were told. Our suckers were not shaped as CORN...and that's not why they were called corn suckers. Corn Suckers...made out of corn syrup...and a sucker that lasted ALL DAY...hence he called them ALL DAY CORN SUCKERS...they couldn't be EATEN...you had to lick them and what REALLY made them unique (other than the money inside) was its shape...it was actually shaped like the inside of your mouth and your tongue could lick it REPEATEDLY until you got down to the stick (or money which was near the stick)...maybe the corn shaped ones were knock offs of his product...I don't truely know if he patented this product or if it was truely his idea...he died in 1965, 2 months after sellin his company to a company in San Antonio TX ... I was told that this co is the same that produces Blackburn Syrup...to this day, it's my favorite syrup! Haven't seen a corn sucker since his death although we had boxes, boxes of the sucker to eat as kids that were left over when we went to his shop after his death. I loved finding this site...a true legacy to my PAPA-PAPA!
