I'm 52 and grew up in Weslaco, Texas and can still taste those grape cornsuckers! They were super dark and left your mouth purple for days! And the grape flavor...OMG! They appear to have been a treat of the southern states so I'm guessing some small local candy maker, perhaps in Texas? If I still lived in Texas I'd hit up some of the old convenient store owners and ask them if they remember who or where they ordered them from, but I'm in Arizona now and NO ONE here remembers them, except ex-Texans! Ok Rob, if your grandfather made them, give us more info, please!
