More on the mysteries of TV advertising regards to Kellogg's Concentrate. In 1963, CBS replaced the cancelled "Dennis the Menace" with "My Favorite Martian" in the Sunday prime time slot between "Lassie" and "Ed Sullivan." About once a month, a Concentrate commercial would be on, along with regulars Rice Krispies and Corn Flakes and alternate sponsors including Sherwin-Williams house paint. Also, Ray Walston would eat Rice Krispies in opening and closing bumper. In 1966, the caveman-spaceman comedy "It's About Time" replaced "My Favorite Martian," and Kellogg's continued sponsorship. Until November, Concentrate ads were on tri-weekly. On Saturday morning cartoon shows of the era, you wouldn't see any Concentrate, only sugary cereals with Hanna-Barbera characters. On shows like "The Monkees" (NBC), regularly Rice Krispies and Pop Tart ads (also, Apple Jacks, Corn Flakes, Frosted Flakes and Raisin Bran). Kellogg's ad time on "Monkees" limited due to co-sponsorship by Yardley Cosmetics.
