From the Saturday morning cartoon vault, the "Welcome Back, Kotter" board game from Ideal. The classroom board served as a maze for the six pawns (four Sweathogs and two non-character girl students). The winner got to stick the rubber hose up his nose. Followed by a "Kotter" Colorform set, with classroom backdrop and only a few character and prop pieces to put in place. This aired on "Krofft Supershow" over ABC (10/16/76). The "Kotter" show was a hit for two seasons. Then, John Travolta left for super-stardom. In 1978, Gabe Kaplan took a walk, leaving the supporting cast to carry the show for 15 episodes. Producer James Komack paid Kaplan, suddenly a movie star ("Fast Break"), a hefty sum to make a three-minute appearance in the series finale, when Horshack got married.
