There was a predecessor to the clackers and it was made with rubber balls. Don't know if the object was the same but this toy was called a "bolo" as I remember it or possibly "wingding". It had a handle with two ropes coming out. One rope was slightly longer than the other, each had a red rubber ball (no pain for failure). The idea was to hold one ball in your left hand while getting the other ball swinging in a circle to the left. This was best accomplished by a wrist motion that made the right hand move straight up and down. Once the right ball was moveing in clockwise direction, the ball in the left hand would be thrown down and begin moving in a counterclockwise direction. The net effect was to have the two balls rotating in opposite directions and looking somewhat like standing behind a propellar. I'd love to know the actual name. I thought they were a Wham-o toy but find no reference from Wham-o.
