I remember Saturday mornings with my daddy in North Carolina. We would get up early and go to the local gas station where all the guys hung out while their wives cleaned house. I would sit on top of the ice cream freezer and eat a honey bun and drink a chocolate soldier. And, being that I was a little girl, if the men began to talk a bit rowdy, they would buy me another one and send me out to sit on top of the ice box where I could greet all the people coming inside. I sure do miss those times, and that drink from my childhood.
