From the Saturday morning cartoon vault: First TV commercial for Chip Away. As one kid works on his master sculpture (right!), his friends all tease him when they find the box. The kid was whittling at the football player figure. This aired on "Saturday Superstar Movie" over ABC (9/30/72). The cartoon was "Daffy Duck & Porky Pig Meet the Groovie Ghoulies." This was cheaply produced by Filmation, as Warner Bros. had no more cartoon studio. Interesting crossover, though. Mel Blanc sounded a little sick as he voiced the Looney Tune characters.
