"Holly - December 15, 2009 - Report this comment My dad was a delivery driver. Yes... back then, the cans werent sealed, so at christmas my brother and I would sneak down and take a few cookies out of the cans in the basement. My dad had the big yellow truck. It was stick, and sometimes he would take me on a route with him when we didnt have school in the summer or on Saturdays. He had a truck full of boxes of cans, so that is what I would sit on. That would never be allowed today.. No seatbelt, 10, and sitting on a box..Oh, and we live in Cleveland, so the salt from the truck ate my parents driveway which today is still all pitted." i know exactly what you mean!my dad delivered in florida and i got to go with him every chance i got.you couldn't wake me for nothing but come days i got to go with my dad i was up at 5am with no problems...lol.and i remember the cans not being sealed-dad would always sneak me a cookie when refilling someone's can :)some of my best memories with my dad are driving in that truck, sitting on a metal folding chair that slid to the back everytime he took off, munching on a choco chip cookie.....what i wouldn't give to have just one of those days back.
