Caravelle was introduced in 1966. Like many confectioners, Peter Paul made the mistake of not promoting it as much as it had with Mounds and Almond Joy, the flagship products (similar case: Fleer promoting Dubble Bubble instead of Chum Gum). Caravelle got more ad time (or space) around 1972 and '73, after Peter Paul did some overhauling to its entire lineup of products. Then, promotion sank when sales sank after 1975. The Nestle $100,000 Bar fared much better as a similar product. Peter Paul abandoned Caravelle around 1977.
