I too grew up on these delicious little “steaks.” They were sold in every market in WLA where I grew up. We didn’t have much money and my mom called these “the poor man’s steak.” Once I had my own family, I kept the tradition going and my kids were also raised on butter steaks. I stopped seeing them in the markets in Granada Hills, CA around 2008? and looked for them everywhere until I finally gave up and started making my own. Today, I make them for my grandchildren who love just like I did as a kid.
