Comments left:	Wonderful to see all these comments about Camp Steak Co., Inc. I worked there as bookkeeper/gen. office for 10 years, from the mid-70s until the death of the original owner, Rayford Camp, in the mid-80s. They made 5 basic products: the Laminated Steaks so many refer to as thin sliced, veal patties and beef patties which were packaged 2 or 4 to a package, with butter on the 4 pack. I can believe their equipment eventually became "wonky", as a lot of it was designed by Ray himself, and parts were created on site as needed. I doubt his heirs had the same talent or drive, especially if they lost the original employees who knew how to keep things together, especially plant manager Palmer. Ray "groomed" Palmer and taught him all about the equipment, etc. When I look in the Yellow Pages I cannot find them now. Ray used to have 8-10 drivers who would come in every morning, load up on product and hit all the markets in So. California. He was interested in expanding nationally, but it never came to be. And yes, Don, Mimi and Ray lived in Woodland Hills, California. She passed several years after Ray, and the company passed to her son, Ray's step-son. Mimi was such a sweetheart! Frankly I'm surprised they kept the company going as long as they did! I wonder - if you're still finding them in markets, and I can't find the company on-line (yellow pages), did step-son Ron sell the company to a bigger corp? Ray fought off buyers when he was running it. Until Steak-Ums came on the market, Ray/Camp Steak Co. was the only producer of these frozen sandwich steaks.
