My first job was a two-year opportunity at BQ in Carrollton, KY - 1978-79. Very familiar with the menu STILL. Very well managed store- weighed fries that could only be out of the fryer 7 min before thrown out- take note MD and we had speed trials constantly. Unlike MD where they start the clock AFTER you pay, we had to do it from the time of entering the door- 3 minutes- with the ONLY allowance of customer decision time. We sold everything- fish-n-chips, lots of fried chicken, cole slaw, fries, apple/lemon/cherry pies, Imperial/Royal and other burgers. I actually really liked their food though I tended to get the double cheese or a double decker Royal the most. The fish sandwich was delish. We marinated the chicken and made our own cole slaw continuously it seemed. I remember the worst thing was breaking the blood vein on thighs marinating, then breading them. We worked hard for our $2.65/hr!!!!
