Burger King introduced the Whaler in 1975, competing with McDonald's Filet-O-Fish. The fish sandwiches at the King underwent several name changes, along with size and shape. The Whaler was about 65 cents, while Filet-O-Fish was about 40 cents. Also, from the Saturday morning cartoon vault: A TV commercial which introduced the current logo (two hands holding a Whopper to form logo). Two men order lunch. When they get the food, one complains that he can't hold a Whopper...reason being: One guy's a detective, handcuffed to the other. The guy under arrest did the complaining. This aired on the "Pink Panther" cartoon show (10/4/69, NBC). Slogan: It Takes Two Hands to Hold a Whopper! The logo replaced that of the king sitting on a Whopper, holding a soft-drink cup, from 1957, when BK was founded in the Miami area.
