Buffalo sandals were flat sandals from India. They had a toe ring and a strap the went from the ankle strap down to the toe ring. They WERE NOT plaform shoes/sandals!! Buffalo sandals were leather. You wore them in water the first time you put them on and wore them till they dried! By doing that the sandal formed to your feet. They had an oil in them that sometimes discolored your feet but kept the leather waterproof and supple. Do an internet search on "water buffalo sandals of the 70's".
