In Cornwall NY USA around 67 68 or so there was a Gluby store just up the Main Street. They had all kinds of stuff but the candy I would get when they had them was the Red Broadway licorice. I remember they got increasingly hard to find as we neared the 70s. None I tried had anything in the middle. They were rolled flat say about 1 inch wide and maybe 18inces when you rolled them out. I liked them really hard they sometimes got stale but for me the staler the better. A new wannabe came on the market in its waning days. It could trick me so I had to be careful. Last time I had them was probably 1975.
