Comments left:	Too bad we can't post photos, because I just found one of myself at the age of 23 back in 1973 wearing a pair of Britannia super-wide bell-bottom jeans. These were also very low rise, probably 4" below my belly button and had two tiny slit pockets in the front and none in the back, though I stitched a tiny British flag on one butt cheek to cover a hole that got ripped in them by the spring poking through a bus seat during my commute to college (I worked for a while before starting school so I was still a student at 23). I bought those jeans at a trendy "hippie" boutique on a side street near the University of Pittsburgh -- they were $12 new, which was a LOT of money for me, working part time for $1.60 an hour. I think I used some of the $20 my parents gave me for Christmas to buy them. They were one of only two pairs of jeans that I owned for many years and I literally wore them out.
