I had a Blythe doll, must have been when I was 7 or 8. I got her for Christmas, and my parents made the mistake of not directing me to open the DOLL first, and I opened an outfit for her before learning that I had the doll. Very exciting! Her eyes changed color each time you pulled the string. The eyes were HUGE, in fact she had a big head compared to the rest of her. This was the first Christmas gift that I remember being REALLY excited about.
