Slo-Pokes and Black Cows both were hard suckers. One bite would guarantee broken or loose teeth. These, along with Milk Duds, were made by the Holloway Company of Chicago from about 1965 until the early 1980s. Haven't seen either sucker product in years. Milk Duds is now made by Hershey. A comic book ad from 1971 had a contest in which AMF bicycles were awarded. Fifty 26" 3-speed, 100 20-inchers, and 150 tyke-size bikes were the prizes. All you had to do was send in one wrapper from a Holloway candy product to be eligible. At least kids who won these didn't have to pay income tax on them.
