Black Cat bubble gum, while quite popular in Canada, had limited exposure in America. Produced in England for nearly twenty years, Black Cat was never picked up by any of the American gum manufacturere. It was imported, however, through variety store chains such as Woolworth's. Black Cat did not sell well over this short period in America. Much of it was simply brought into the country from Canada, in areas like Detroit, Seattle and Buffalo by private citizens who loved it, and wanted to share it with relatives and friends in America. At least, none of the commentaries here cofused Black Cat with Black Jack by Adams.
