On the Chicago scene. From 9/15/78 on WGN-TV, this commercial featuring the Big Mac Club promo. When customer bought a Big Mac (89c at the time), a special card was given. The Styrofoam sandwich container had a round sticker. Collect four, turn in card and get the fifth burger free. This aired during Chicago Cubs baseball, a grueling marathon game that lasted twelve innings (Cubs lost 6-1 to St. Louis). Jack Brickhouse and Lou Boudreau called the action. Since last year, no more Cubs on Channel Nine. Now, only on Marquee Sports Network, only available on cable. Tragic.
