On the Chicago scene. From November, 1973, on WCFL, a McDonald's radio commercial urging consumers not to boycott beef, but to buy two all-beef Big Macs for a buck and a quarter (regular price then was 70 cents each). This aired during Wolfman Jack's evening broadcast. For a year, Wolfman was on Super CFL, but never set foot in Chicago. He worked in Los Angeles. Along with hosting "Midnight Special" TV show, he pre-recorded material distributed to several dozen radio stations around the country. Very generic. He'd only mention call letters, and gave little further reference to Chicago. Never gave the time or weather (a local newscaster did that). Toward 1978, I picked up Nashville's WLAC, one of Wolfman's syndicated radio stations. No, I didn't forget his Clearasil acne medicine commercials.
