My dad, Paul Frank, worked in the advertising department of American Bakeries located in Chicago from 1965 until the mid '80s. As a kid, I remember him traveling around the country a lot. He was very involved with the labeling artwork and advertising spots for Mickey Cakes, Taystee, Cook Book, Langendorf and others. I've also been told he used me as his model for the little boy face on the Mickey Cake label. I remember that he used to bring home boxes of the banana flips, cup cakes, devil delights, etc. and he would put them in the freezer. Regrettably, the Banana Flip was the one cake I didn't like, especially when it was frozen. I liked all the other cakes a lot....but the Banana Flip tasted way too sweet for me and the banana flavor tasted too artificial.
