you must have a really good nose- artificial banana flavor is actually made from banana oil. it is made with a process using ethylene glycol which is why it must be labeled artificial. loved how that ethylene glycol-laced creme filling in the mickey's banana flip tasted way back when. just kidding- food grade EG isn't like antifreeze- it's odorless, colorless, and tasteless. if hostess were to come up with a good-tasting banana-flavor creme filling for those suzie-q's, they'd have something there.
