To Mary from 2013: Here's the scoop on Archies Tangy Taffy. This was a really obscure product, probably not sold nationally. A small confection company from St. Louis named Sunline manufactured this taffy, with license from Archie Comics. I found a few images of display boxes and wrappers, with copyright dates of 1970. The vanilla taffy featured Veronica. The Grape, Jughead. The banana, Betty, and Archie on cherry. Don't know if Reggie was on one. These likely were only available around 1970 or '71. Sunline had the money to buy the Archie license, but not enough to promote and advertise in Archie comic books. During that time frame, the only sweet treats in comic book ads were PopSicle and Holloway candies (Black Cow).
