In a family of 10, there were no frills BUT if we were ill, we could request AM apricot juice. Didn't come to us automatically but could be requested. Was available at a tiny corner store that kept my parents in cigarettes and us children in penny candy--our reward for running in and buying the cigarettes. One penny got us a significant bit of candy in the mid-late 1950s.
