Mego Toys made the 2XL 8-track player in 1978. Box describes it as the "Robot With Personality." Along with the ability to play music carts, several pre-programmed game, musical and story carts were sold separately. A game extension, Tri X, provided additional games. 2XL ran only on an AC adaptor, no batteries for portability. It retailed originally at $45, which was comparable to the hand-held Mattel games of the time.
