Similar to what you described as wallaroo: Carbonated lemony soda. Closest equivalent today is Squirt. Marketed (in California) between 1976 and 1980. (disappeared just as we went from tin cans to aluminum)

Seems as the World Trade Name for W/S expired in 5/9/2000.First filed with the Federal Trade Comission on Aug 8 1977, was in use by the Canada Dry coropration in Atlanta, GA.
Used to tie a rope to a 6-pack and tow it behind me as I inner-tubed down the slow Tuolummne River in Central CA. Best stuff ever!

Was a favorite drink as a kid when I was living in Santa Rosa in the late 70's. Not around long though.
I played on a girls soccer team in Stockton in the late 1970’s, we were the Wallabies. Sometimes a parent would bring Wallaby Squash for our post game snack, it was a huge treat. I would love to hear the commercial again. And I still remember that lemon soda flavor, I can’t think of a substitute. I came here trying to find any info about it!!
An actual Walaby Squash is a puddle of kangaroo urine !!! Told to me by a native from Queensland Au.
