Description
I remember Sweet tarts back in the early 70's. It was a GREAT big sweet tart that you had to lick Your tongue would get so sore from all of the licking. It cost 10 cents.

I thought I was the only one that remembered these! Everytime I mentioned them to someone I got a strange look like I was nuts. My favorite candy of all time. I'd love to see these come back.

If anyone has any old 70s candy wrappers they would sell, please email me, I collect them and pay good cash for them! I would love to buy any 1970s Sweettarts wrappers too!

Judy P you aren't nuts. I remember getting the big sweet tarts in a bag...I think there were two or maybe three per bag but they were HARD..not those "chewy sweet tarts" they came out with in the early 80's. When you ate one it took about 30+ minutes and that first bite made your eye water and your face twist. I loved those things

"...that first bite made your eye water and your face twist." Yep. I remember the "pain" of Sweet Tarts more than the flavor, made me pucker like biting into a lemon. The giant Sweet Tarts looked like colored Alka Seltzer tablets, except they'd probably make your indigestion worse.

I loved those large Sweetarts. They came in a cellophane package, a purple one and a pink one back to back, and I think eventually they had some indentations that made them easier to break apart. They were so sour that my tongue regularly bled when I consumed them, and I'm sure they didn't do my teeth (which were in braces) any good, either. But they were a quarter at the drugstore or Woolworth's, and I bought one as often as I could. I do miss those.

Does anyone remember the big sweet tarts that had some type of maze game made on it with a little ball you could also eat??

I remember those gigantic Sweet Tarts! I would go down to the market by my high school and buy one for a treat! There were great! I also used to get Zots, too!

Yes, I remember the true GIANT sweet tart. I'd get one at the movie and would scrape my front teeth against it like it was an apple. It would last the entire movie. I'm not talking about the ones that came in a two or three pack - or the chewy version that came out much later. The one I am talking about came all by itself and was much bigger and more convex than the ones that came out later. So far, I haven't found anyone who knows what I'm talking about, and I haven't seen them since I was a kid...in the late 60s or early 70s.

Wasn't there a giant Sweet Tarts necklace that was edible?
