70's ...maybe 60's and still around today...shoe laces licorice....about 2 feet long...very slender...my favorite was purple...would tie it into knots...or let hang from my mouth while i chewed on them...one of my freinds even chokes on one of these once...and the piece of licorice came out of her nose!!!...that was a hoot!!

I remember going to the mall and getting black shoelace licorice from the candy store--it came in rolls and he would roll it out as long as you wanted (or your mother would pay for) and then snip it off and hand over....
