Description
A Pop Tart without icing that had a peanutbutter filling, chocolate dough outside with a simple outline type design of a buffalo imprinted on the topside. They also made chocolate elephants too but the peanutbutter buffalos were the best. Last seen and tasted in the early 70's.... so sad.

The peanut butter buffaloes were the best 'pop tart' of all time. I can't believe no one has re-created them. The chocolate and cinnamon were great too. If I could only have one again. What memories from my youth.
It's funny, but my whole life I have remembered these things like I ate one yesterday. I believe that they were, quite simply, the most delicious thing I've ever eaten---and I just turned 50 this year!!! I think of them often, as I would a childhood best friend who moved away.
I mourn the loss of Peanut Butter Buffaloes, Tutti Frutti Owl, Chocolate Elephants and Berry Bears! Oh, I miss them!
I didn't think I would EVER find anyone that remembered the Chocolate Elephants! They were my favorite! I still have the dart board with all the pop tart animals on it that you got by sending in the box tops... does anyone else still have theirs? Fun memories...

If I remember correctly, the Chocolate Elephant product was from Post, the competitor to Kelloggs. The actual product was something like "Post Tostems". From there, you could get the variety of Flavors. AND.....hands down, the ese were so much better than what is offered today.
I loved those pop tarts. My earliest childhood breakfast memories are of my mom giving us those as part of our breakfast. I searched google for the sole purpose of seeing if anyone remembered them. Chocolate Elephant and Tootie Fruity Owl were my favorites.
I found a box of peanut butter filled chocolate pop tarts at Kroger this week. close in flavor.
Just ate the peanut butter and choc pop tart. I've looked these up before and couldn't find any info on them and NO one I Know remembers the pop tarts with animals on them . I remember ratting a bunch of the peanut butter ones😊
The Post animal-shaped toaster pastries were discontinued by 1974. At the time, Kellogg's had Milton the Toaster as a mascot, and only offered. basically, the same flavors Pop Tarts started with in 1964. Sales of the animal tarts were probably not strong enough for them to last more than a year and a half. Since it was a Post product, fans can try appealing to Kraft to bring them back.
I definitely remember Peanut Butter Buffaloes and Chocolate Elephants, and I think there might have a cinnamon one too (bears maybe?)

I always ask my kid brother if he remembered the Peanut Butter Buffalos or Chocolate Elephants he does not remember but I can still almost taste the Peanut Butter Buffalos! They were my favorite, I would pay 20 bucks for an edible sealed 2-pack. MMMMMMMmmmmmmm BUFFALOOOOooohhhhh
