I remember that the strawberry was my favorite Mother's Pride Soda. We used to have to take the bottles back for the redemption value, back when they used to give you the money at the store. If they want to have people they should have left it the way it was. And man were those bottles heavy! I also like the orange and root beer flavors, but when it came to the Cola flavor - it tasted like something that belonged in a lighter or in the family station wagon's gas tank!

I remember my mom making us great root beer floats with Mother's Pride when I was a kid in the 50's & 70's. Also Dad's Old Fashioned Root Beer. I grew up in Bellflower,Calif., and never knew that Mother's Pride was from Gardena until I started poking around today!

We usually had the root beer in our house. Growing up in n. Long Beach we did all of the shopping at Coles Market on Atlantic. Refund value was 10¢ in the 50's. You could get two candy bars for a dime back then. Mother's Pride soda and Jiffy Pop. That's all you need

My dad used to go to a store called TRY-IT, in the back of the store they sold mothers pride colas, orange and strawberry were the best and put them in the fridge for a few hours and we had to be good, or we would not get any. Boy, I sure wish I had some now, they were great with potato chips!!! YUM!!

I was cleaning out an area of my Mother's Garage the other day and came across a box full of old soda bottles that I had there to return to the store for the deposit money. This box never made it! Dig this, 2-Mother's Pride Cola bottles, 1-Bubble Up, 1-small Seven UP bottle, 1-Diet Seven UP, 1-RC Cola all inside a Liquid Dove Dish soap box that was Crumbling. Should I keep them or sell them on eBay?

Back in the late 60's & early 70's my father (Willie)sold Mothers Pride in his South Central L.A. neighborhood market(Van Ness Food Market) on Gage & Van Ness. It was always a treat for us to get the strawberry flavored soda that came in the big glass jug. Mothers Pride, blue jean Levi's pants with matching jacket and afro's parted on the side! Righteous Cuz!!!

I remember back in 72-73 in City of Commerce. I remember getting greedy so my brother couldn’t get the money when returned to the store. The only way I could carry 3 bottles was if I stuck my thumb thru the neck. Boy I thought I was smart til I got to the store and tried removing the bottle. I got so upset when they had to break the bottle but I was lucky to get the money for all three bottles. Best root beer ever.

Mothers Pride ( and Dad's root beer) were bottled by National Drinks in Gardena CA. Until the company was bought out by Dr. Pepper of Southern California. They gradually phased out Mothers Pride and replaced it with their own brand Orange Crush. DPSC was bought out by Coca Cola Enterprises in 1984. I never saw Mothers Pride bottled by any other company. I found this site looking for info on Mothers Pride on a whim from a memory. I was hired by National drinks/Dr. Pepper in 1976 as a Merchandiser/ delivery driver. That Mothers pride you drank was probably at one time or another delivered or stocked onto the shelf by me.
