Description
It was a soup packet that came in a box that you mixed with water and was green and creamy. For not liking peas at the time, the soup was good.

Ohmygosh I LOVED this soup. If I had known it was going to be discontinued I would have bought a truckload! Any time I got sick, this was my comfort food. I didn't (and still don't) like peas either!

Where in the dicken's can you find, or get the boxes of the Green pea Cup-a-soup?? I've looked in, I don't know how many stores! I thought I'd find it somewhere in these pages! No such luck! Is it still manufactured? Please let me know. Thanks.

I've done some research on the good ol' lipton green pea soup and it's no longer being manufactured :( Any that you may find still in existence would be several years old. I loved this soup, it should come back!!

Unilever (the company that owns Lipton) has a company in The Netherlands called Unox and they make the Green Pea Cup-A-Soup. I purchased it in Aruba and it was delicious.

About 31 years ago my grandaughter who was 5 years old and spent a week with me and I introduced her to LPTON green pea soup one day for lunch and she fell in love with " GREEN SOUP . WHEN IT WAS TIME FOR CHRISTIE TO GO HOME, I HAD TO BUY THE WHOLE BOX OF GREEN PEA ENVELOPES FOR HER TO TAKE HOME WITH HER. CHRISTIE IS NOW 36, AND IS LOOKING EVERYWHERE POSSIBLE FOR HER " GREEN SOUP ", BECAUSE SHE MISSES IT AND WOULD LIKE HER 3 CHILDREN TO EXPERENCE THE SAME PLEASURE THAT SHE REMEMBERS HAVING ECPERENCED WHEN SHE ATE THIS SOUP. PLEASE BRING THIS SOUP BACK. EVEN TODAY , AT 77 I WOULD LOVE THIS SOUP FOR LUNCH.It went great with a grilled cheese sandwich, and especially when you ( dip ) it into the soup.Hey ! I am a firm believer of the saying,,,IF IT AIN"T BROKE....DON"T FIX IT. THIS SUOP IS MISSED BY EVERYONE. THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME VOICE MY FEELINGSS

Your green pea soup was the most wonderful soup for warming up and filling up that I remember. Found a packet in my cupboard today purchased in 2004, made it and it reminded me of the many times I enjoyed it. PLEASE offer it to us pea soup lovers once again.

I agree with everyone who wants Lipton to bring back the Green Pea Cup of Soup. It was the best! I usually buy the Cream of Chicken but do miss the Green Pea flavor more. Lipton you would make a lot of people happy and make money on top of that... pay attention to the requests. Of course the question that no one is asking is "WHY you took it off the market in the first place"?
Nicole - May 04, 2010 - Report this comment
I remember coming home from kindergarten and the tasty Lipton Green Pea Cup of Soup steaming on the table with the liver sausage and mustard sandwich with a pickle next to it. I would slowly sip this creamy soup to savor it's wonderful creamy perfection. I've tried several other Green Pea soups and nothing has come close. Please bring back the Green Pea Cup of Soup perfection that so many of us long for from our childhood.

I broke my jaw in 1971, and it was wired shut for 6 long weeks - I survived on lipton pea soup and malts though a straw. Man I wish they still made it!

Ha ha. This makes me so happy to read all your comments. I was just sitting here tonight thinking how I'm going to flavor the split peas I have soaking tonight for a soup tomorrow and all the sudden I exclaimed to my husband "Remember Split Pea Soup in packages---kinda watery and salty and sooooo yummy??!!" It was sooooo good! So I googled Lipton Split Pea Soup. Anyway, I'm on a rampage now to rediscover this delicious taste that I remember liking when I was sick too. It was really good with "Krispy Crackers" too. I love Lipton Green Pea Soup!! Please bring it back with all it's natural goodness!

I loved this soup so much. My grandmother made it for me, but used less water so it had a pasty consistency. I LOVE THIS SOUP. I ate it well into the early 1990s which is when I think it ws discontinued. I also wish Lipton would bring it back. Pea Soup = Awesome Grandma memories. Please, Lipton, bring back the Pea Soup! I will buy it every week, I promise.

DubbleDutch in Denver, CO has carried the Unox green peas soup (as Unox calls it) in the past. I'm going back at Christmas and will be buying some from them, it tastes EXACTLY like that old wonderful Lipton powdered split pea soup. Don't know if she'll ship to you, but once I discovered her shop she made a special effort to order more of this for me.

My mother used to give us this soup with bits of melted cheddar in it. I hated peas, but I loved this soup. I still find myself looking longingly for it on the soup aisles. The cup-o version was okay, but lately I haven't been finding it on the shelves either. This was such a comfort food for me.

If all of you go to the Unilever website and write them an e-mail that you want the Lipton Green Pea dry soup mix back on the shelves in the U.S.A., maybe they will. I just sent them an e-mail myself. My mom used to make us the green pea soup with bits of Vienna sausage and sliced onion.

Lipton Dried Green Pea Soup in the packets was SOOOO good! We had it at least once a week when I was a kid...with sliced up hot dogs floating on top. I went hunting for it tonight and found this thread. Wonder why they won't bring it back?

Rebecca: That's EXACTLY the way my mother always served it! I still crave this stuff, and go looking for it every now and then. Today, for instance, I was hoping to find information suggesting that you could buy it in bulk somewhere, or from an international food store - something! {:-< I sometimes resort to eating canned Anderson's Split Pea soup with hotdogs as a substitute. I guess there comes a point when you just have to alter Old Family Recipes like this to keep pace with the times! :-)

One of my childhood memories - my dad and I having 'Split Pea Soup' (we both loved soup more than the rest of my family). A piece of toast cut into small squares for croutons and a little deli ham chopped and mixed in. Felt like a feast.

Unox makes a dried pea soup that you can occassionally find on Amazon. I agree with everyone, it is so unfortunate that Lipton stopped making this. The Unox tastes identical in my mind, but is still difficult to obtain, even through Amazon vendors. Next best to the old lipton in flavor, not consistency and convenience, is Honeybaked Ham’s boxed pea soup ingredients (which you cook with pieces of ham). There also may still be a Dutch store if you live in Denver, CO. She used to be great at getting what I think was the Unox for me by the case. (It was in Dutch, but I beleive made by Unox.)

I lived on Lipton split pea soup, I cut in hot dogs and let them steep. When ever I travel to Europe, I look for whatever brand of split pea soup mixes and fill my suitcase. Found in Germany, Holland, Belgium. Found some in Quebec City in the Jewish section of town in a warehouse type market.
Cathy Silcox - April 08, 2015 - Report this comment
Found on Amazon...almost $50.00 for 6 packs! The shipping is as much as the soup!
Janice Vincent - February 14, 2016 - Report this comment
So how can we persuade Lipton to bring this soup back into production? I haven't found a split pea soup mix that I love as much as I loved Lipton's pea soup!

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GO ON LIPTONS FACEBOOK PAGE AND REQUEST THE SOUP.

I would give my all for Lipton's Pea Soup. I do not like peas but I love only Lipton's Pea Soup. There is no other that compares. I keep hoping they'll bring it back. Surely, they know how much it is missed.

Whenever I felt ill Lipton’s green pea soup was the one that was the best. Always made me feel better. Was so disappointed that I couldn’t find it anywhere anymore. That and cream of mushroom. Please bring back.

My mother-in-law would prepare this velvety soup for lunch sometimes. She would also mix it with a can of chicken with rice soup and that was such a treat. Campbell’s has a green pea soup and I think if I put it through the blender it might be a fair substitute.

Welp, I was raised on ANYTHING Lipton, because my dad was this region's salesman for 34 years. You would think Unilever would listen to me, wouldn't you? Yeah, no! I wrote them a letter saying people (including me) were craving pea soup, but they are a huge conglomerate now and really don't care what we like. Poor Dad is probably flipping in his grave as he devoted his life to Lipton and well, you all! Come on, Unilever! You wanna make money? Give us what we want out here! Pea soup so we can haul out our hot dogs and croutons again! Who knows...I might even quit drinking Luzianne in protest.XZ5

Sounds like most of you had it for lunch and snacks. Our family used it for a quick pick-me-up at the end of a long hiking day while our meal was being prepared--quick and delicious--only the pea flavor would do. Found similar one from Wil-Pak Foods in California but not readily available in the East. Anyone in Bimidji, Minnesota try the Health Food Store.

I enjoyed Mark's comments above. I, too broke my jaw (or it was broken for me in a football game). Six weeks wired shut and my main diet was Lipton's Green Pea soup and Malts. I still lost 25 pounds so I guarantee the stuff won't make you fat. I'm old enough to remember when green pea soup came in cans. I still crave it!
