Description
They were penny candies that consisted of a small square of chocolate wrapped in gold foil with red lettering. They were really good and "melty" hence the name!

I remember they had a strange aftertaste and left a cool, icy sensation in the mouth. Probably because of some strange 70s chemicals.

You can still buy them. I wasn't actually alive in the seventies, but I've always thought they have a very unusual flavor, not like other chocolate.

If these are what I remember, the little chocolate cube was full of tiny little bubbles...like the mix was frothed or carbonated before hardening.

Hershey's had a similar candy bar. It may still be available, called Hershey's Whipped. I remembered the original from way back but did not remember the name until I came across this posting.

The Ice Cube chocolates, wrapped in gold foil, were made in Germany by the Moritz Company and imported through a third party. These were first available around 1963, and distributed mainly to small grocery stores (at two cents apiece, supermarket chains ignored them, for little profit to be made).

I remember them being at every cash register in a plastic container 2 cents each.
