From Memphis, I, too have been looking for over 7 years for any good info on the Heyday. At the USPTO website lists the cookie bars as being invented in 1912, trademark was retired in 1973. I found a Nabisco employee who never heard of Heyday. The real disappointment is the fact that all foods trademarked (and are in the active status)in the U.S.A. must have a extremely detailed desrip.& all the exact ingredients as well as the unique process by which the food item is made, even baking temps and times. It is only by this method that the USPTO can police the food industry and assist(and prosecute) commercial copycats. Just lookup the "OREO" at the U.S.Patent and Trademark Office site or on the Gov't website "T.E.S.S." assist. Help me if you can, Bill Boyd

I remember and totally loved the Heyday. A freind of my parents use to have them at their yearly picnics. I asked her about them a couple of years ago and she said they were made by Stauffer Biscuit here in York PA. I hope this helps

HOLY KAMOLY! I thought it was just me. Every now & then when I'm at the grocery store I think I'm going to find the Heydays cookies(bars). But, I never find them. Today, again at the grocery store I was thinking about them and how bad I wish I could find them. Decided to do a search on the internet today and only to find they don't make them anymore. I was thinking that it was Keebler but, I hear that it was Nabisco. Anyway, at least its nice to know I'm not alone. MAN! I LOVED THOSE THINGS! Bummer they don't make them anymore. I'll definitely sign a petition to get them back. Long live the Heyday!

My Dad was a salesman for Nabisco back in the 70's and 80's, so, he often brought HeyDeys home to me because they were my favorite cookie they made. To this day I have never had a better store bought cookie. I lived in Arizona so they only sold them in the store during the winter months because they melted to quickly in the summer. Nabisco needs to wake up and merchandise these again!

I am looking for Heyday bars , too. they just disappeared. If Nabisco stopped making them due to poor demand, I would say they were not advertizing them well. Some other cookies they sell are not good at all, but there are many commercials about them and they sell well. Hey Nabisco, make the cookies, give them a different name and advertise!

Well, it is 2011 and I am still hoping to find a pkg. of HeyDay cookies. Whenever I visit a town different than where I live I go to a grocery to see if they have them available and that the "problem" is just where I live and the buyer for the particular area. Unfortunately, I see from all your comments, that they just are not made any longer. So Very Sad! I agree with Kevin, perhaps Vermont Country Store would be willing to help us. Let's ask them!

I used to work for Nabisco back in the mid-1980's. At that time we were still able to purchase them at the company store. If I recall, they were very popular among all us employees at the time; I kept a bag in my dest drawer. However, Nabsico has a corporate culture of cannibalizing or poorly marketing some of their best products. Sadly, the Heyday Bars along with the Uneeda Biscuits went by the wayside.

Heydays were so good. I was the middle child of 8 kids, and so when I had a job, I'd buy a package of these and hide them in my room. Eventually, my younger sisters found them and would eat them all. The texture was so unique. Chewy and crunchy at the same time.

Here's someone else that was absolutely CRAZY about Heyday bars. I always thought they were between a cookie and a candy bar. My children and I just couldn't seem to get enough of them. Now I'm a great grandmother, and I still dream of Heydays. My daughter, who is now 52, and I, have also been looking for them for years. It's unbelievable that Nabisco stopped making them. If there's anything we can do to have them brought back, we're more than willing to do whatever we can. I think someone was right. Nabisco needed to do more advertising.

Here's another person who was absolutely CRAZY about Heyday bars. When my children were growing up, we never could seem to get enough. We always thought they were between a cookie and a candy bar. They were SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good. Now my children are middle-aged and I am a great-grandmother, and we've looked for Heydays for years. Now we find they are obsolete! I can't believe that Nabisco stopped making them. I think one of the comments was right. If they weren't selling well enough, Nabisco must not have advertised them properly. I don't see how anyone could help but love Heydays. and I believe if they were brought back and given the proper advertising, they would be a best seller. There are many people alive today that weren't even born when they quit making heydays. I think they should be given the opportunity to try them; I'll bet they would love them as we all do! PLEASE, Nabisco, bring back Heydays! My children and grandchildren and I will do whatever we can to make this possible!!!

I just found this recipe and going to give it a try. I found plain wafer at the my city market in Mediterranean (foreign) store. Nabisco Heyday Bars Recipe Ingredients: 14 oz. bag of Carmels 9 oz. package of vanilla sugar wafers 1/4 cup of water 3or4 cups of chopped peanuts 8 oz. Hersheys Chocolate Bar, Milk or Dark Recipe Instructions: Separate the Sugar Wafers with a knife, carefully removing the filling, so that all you have left are the wafers themselves. Stack the empty wafers in stacks of 3. On a sheet of wax paper, take one(1) wafer from each stack and lay them out on the wax paper. Put the carmels in a microwave safe bowl and add the water to them. Microwave them on high for 5 minutes, stopping after each minute to stir them. When they are completely melted, use a spoon to drizzle the carmel on each wafer, doing on 5 at a time, then put a second wafer from the stack on each when you finish. Drizzle carmel on all the remaining wafers on the wax paper the same way, 5 at a time. Now drizzle carmel on all the ones you just finished, and add the third wafer to each of them. You should end up with between 20 and 25 completed cookies with three wafers each with carmel in between. Put the chopped peanuts in a bowl. Using a pair of tongs, dip each cookie in the melted carmel, drain off the excess carmel, then roll in the peanuts, completely covering the cookie, and set on wax paper. Finish all the remaining cookies the same way. After letting them sit for ten minutes to set, break up the chocolate bar in a microwave safe bowl, and microwave on high 30 seconds at a time, stirring after each time, until its completely melted. Using a spoon, drizzle the chocolate in stripes over the cookies. Let the cookies rest until completely set. Makes 20-25 cookies. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20060804094803AAHylP2

Hope you are near a Meijer and can pick up a box for yourself.

In response to pondgirl, those are not Heydays.... Heydays did not have coconut but had peanuts. For all the other Heyday cookie lovers, here's my story...when I was a child our family would take a trip to visit family a couple of states away in the south. Each of us children were allowed to purchase something at the general store. While my younger siblings picked toys, I would go for the Heyday cookies. I got the whole package to myself and would make them last the entire vacation!!!

I love Heydays too. I look for them everywhere I go even internationally. I keep thinking I will see them somewhere even if they are called something else, but no luck. I have been looking for years. The last place I saw them was in Fargo, North Dakota. I lived near the Keebler distributor and they were originally made by Keebler because I remember calling Keebler when I couldn't find them anymore. After many years I called Keebler again to see if they would make them again. I was told that the recipe was sold to Nabisco. I have never seen them since with a Nabisco label. I have called Nabisco and they said there are no plans to make them again... My belief is that no cookie manufacturer wants to deal with the peanut allergy thing on their production line. To costly to sanitize after ever batch and too costly to have one plant just for peanut products... Just my thoughts... But please bring back. They were great...
Lashtx - January 05, 2015 - Report this comment
The long lost cookie I'm remembering was sold in a single layer of bars, almost like butterfinger or 5th avenue candy but smaller. The chocolate was sweeter than dark chocolate but darker than milk choc. It melted almost the second you picked it up. The cookie was (like butterfinger says) crispety, cruchenty. Peanut buttery goodness! There were only about ten in the package-plastic tray, wrapped in cellophane like wrapping. Anybody remember these? What the heck are (were) they called? I want to say Keebler made them but who knows? Anybody?!???

Heyday bars were a great solution to the munchies. They need to bring many things back from the 1970s. Trusting people, people whom you could trust. A time when Hitchhiking was a safe way to get around. The girls were friendlier. Ladies of the 2015's you are the girls of the 70's, why so serious now?

So gratifying to see how many others are still looking for Hey Days. The best cookie ever! I now live in England and crave these cookies from my childhood in San Francisco. I don't think the recipes for making at home will be the same due to caramel issues...the Hey Day needed a caramel that hardened slightly, which is so difficult to do at home. I just wanted to add my post to the many followers of this super treat and hope it returns at some point soon.

My mom would buy them in the 60's they came in a pkg. Not a box. A long narrow cellophane type pkg that you could see them thru the writing. My favorite. About the closest i have found is the new keebler jif cookie. It has nuts, chocolate, & peanut butter. I know peanut butter does not belong, s/b caramel. But it's a pretty good cookie.

I think Nabisco had done marketing studies and found they were not cost effective for the wonderful little morsels. That would be my 2 bits for them. I sure miss them though!

I bought a new Keebler cookie at Brookshires yesterday called Coconut Dreams. They are like the Heyday of my childhood. I love them!!!

I love heyday bars! I couldn't find them in Connecticut after a while, and my mother in law could still get them in Vermont and would wrap them up for Christmas for me. Best MIL ever! Best cookies ever! I still crave them!

OMG! Hey Deys were to die for!!! I have been looking for them for years & years!!! If it wasn't for Hey Deys, I would never have made it through my 3rd & 4th years of university back in the very early 1970's!!! LOL They were my total stress relief! They were so absolutely yummy that I always kept them hidden from my room-mates. I can see them, smell them & taste them...I just can't find them!!! HELP!

The original post on this page asked about Heyday and also Marathon bats. Cadbury makes a candy bar called the Curly Witly that is the same thing as a Marathon bar! Only made in England. I have s case coming!!

it's good to see some likeminded people out there. none of my co-workers have ever heard of the heyday bar. I guess it's their loss because to me it was the best "cookie" ever (because it really was a candy bar masquerading as a cookie!) bring back the heyday bar!!!

Oh man....They were totally the best....I'm 45 years old now and I still remember them being the best cookie I ever ate as a child. My uncle was a driver for Keebler and would bring us cookies and crackers all the time.......Wish they would make these again.....I would even buy them seperately as a candy bar if that was an option.

I swear these were made with kid crack. Best food in the world and now it's gone for good. Maybe Trump can MAGA by bringing these back!

My brother would eat them in a day so it was a rush to get them and do the same. Only snack I every got tortured for, not that it worked. In the early 1990s found and grabbed them for around 5 1990s dollars. Who knows what they’d cost today so figure average parent wasn’t paying premium priced cookies for kids. Know my wife thought i was excessive.

So I have found my clan. If these are truely the cookies I remember and have looked for every since, the waffer inside was a deep orange color and they were so chewy. I had forgotten about the penuts and thought it might have been coconut but I didn’t remeber a coconut flavor. Gosh I wish they still made these!!!!!! Maybe we should crowd source our own company if anyone here is smart enough to find someone who could give us the recipe!

I loved these as a kid. My mom would buy these and I loved them. I’m glad I’m not the only one who loved these cookies too!

I’ve been looking for Heydays for years. I wish some company would start making them again. There wasn’t a snack today that could compete in today’s market.

I used to ride my bike 2 miles to get these from the local mini-mart. I'm not a huge sweets person, but these were awesome!

When I was about 11 I noticed the Heyday bar brown plastic wrapping tore open on the kitchen counter with about two cookies missing and I went nuts! I was VERY possessive of them! My poor brother in law ran out of the kitchen freaked out. I'm still embarrassed over that to this day and I'm 51!

i used to binge eat Heyday bars. no other food, truly! if they had not been discontinued i'd be dead. in the end i could stop at half a package, just to eat the rest the next day. the next "life" must include Heyday bars for everyone.

So glad I found this. I was having Samoa’s tonight and telling my daughter about the best cookie I ever ate. Didn’t know the name but I described it to her and told her I’ve been looking for the cookies for over 30 years. My search led me to this page and while I knew they had been discontinued - never stopped me from looking in the grocery store - I held out hope. So glad I found some like minded Heyday fans. They remain the best ever indeed. I agree with those of you that say Samoa’s are close - they are - but they do not match the deliciousness of the Heyday.

I have a recipe that tastes similar to Heydays but is not crunchie, it has a peanut butter cookie bottom and caramel, chocolate and chopped peanuts on the top. Close enough for me!😃

You can make a home version of Heydays and they’re really great, because you control the quality of the ingredients! All you need is chocolate, caramel, peanuts and oblatne, which is unadorned wafer cookie in sheet form. We are lucky to have a European grocery store, where I buy oblatne in person, but you can order it online, if it’s not available where you live. (Google “oblatne” and several sources will pop up.) That’s better than buying frosting-filled wafer cookies, which you have to open to scrape out that filling. The sheets are also faster and easier to use. I melt Werther’s caramels for the filling and I use premium chocolate to coat the top. Then. I sprinkle the top with chopped peanuts. (The next batch will be with chopped almond bits, because I really prefer almonds to peanuts) They are easy to make, because all the work is simply and carefully melting two ingredients (the caramel and the chocolate), chopping nuts, and assembly. When cool, cut the sheets into single-serving-size bars and eat! Yum!
