Description
it was a chip that looked like a french fry. It came in cheese and something like sour cream and onion, I think. they were by frito-lay I believe. it was back in 1979 when I ate them as an after school snack. Has anyone heard of them except me?

We did not have alot of chips and snacky things around our house unless it was party time or a holiday, but I remember getting a bag these in the French onion flavor for the Friday night "movie of the week". Very good. They had the shape of a french fry and tasted somewhat like funyuns, but not as strong or as hard and crunchy... more like very thick Andy Capp fries.

Fantastics were the BEST!!!! I remember them very well and wish they would be brought back into production by Frito Lay!!!!!! I remember a cheese flavor and an onion flavor. No snack chip in existence today can compare!!!!
Remember these chips as the best chip ever!! wish there was somewhere to purchase them.
Count me in!!! I remember these as well. The commercial had a person holding the bag and crunching one down until it was gone. They were really good.
As I was remembering various foods, both Guy's BBQ Chip (the best chips ever) and these Fantastix kept creeping into my memory bank. Guy's could still be available as I discovered (Google is good)and they are the same recipe as I recall (as their customer service stated) and they are sold in the Mid-West, thus leading to a request to the Sister-in-Law in Tulsa, OK to locate -- Now if we can just get these Fantastix (spelling?) onto the shelf.

I remember these! The TV commercial used to have people crunching these. Me and my sister would always get these at a place called super burger in Jacksonville Fl. The only thing even close in taste and texture is the Andy Caps Cheese Fries, but they are much smaller than fantastix were.
Sour cream and onion fantasticks were the Best! One of my childhood faves. Snyder's of Hannover makes a ” veggie straw ” that reminds me of these, but without the zippy onion taste. (the 70s snack was spelled 'fantasticks' ” stix” at the end is a modern snack that is totally unlike the frito lay version.
Omg I remember those chips .....Fantastixs were the best chips ever what happened America ???? go backwards !!!! Lol
OMG!! I thought i was going crazy, everyone i asked couldn't remember these, but i can only remember the onion flavour,bring them back.......
I thought I was the only one to remember these things ,they were sooooo good and yes they were very big like an super size andy capp .They were sour cream and onion and a cheese flavor.
I loved these snacks when I was a kid. I knew eventually someone would upload a video of the commercial. I have been trying to confirm that this snack existed and my grandmother did have them at her house. Everyone told me I was thinking of Funyuns and I told them they were WRONG. Vengeance is MINE! hahahaha If you search "1978 Fantastix TV commercial" on U tube you will find the commercial I am talking about.
I totally remember these! Sour cream and onion was my favorite. I was 9 years old. Oh how I miss those. :)
I knew a guy that worked for Frito-Lay when Fantasticks were around then gone. He said the flavoring or coating on the snack would come off the chip and gather in the bag when left in the truck during the summer months. Frito Lay discontinued them because of that according to him.

I remember the cheese flavoured Fantasticks. They were absolutely delicious. The nearest flavoured crisp today would be cheese flavoured "Moments" chutney flavoured Space Invaders were also really nice. The stronger the flavour, the better! Mmmmmm.
I am so glad someone remembers this snack besides myself also. No one knew what i was talking about but i remember this snack and it was so good. It just disappeared and i cannot find it anywhere
I've been looking for Fantasticks to reappear for almost 45 years! I believe they were by Lay's then and I loved the peanut butter filled ones, the cheddar not so much. My boyfriend used to take me 20 miles away to find them until they completely disappeared. When is someone bringing them back!
I loved loved loved Fantasticks. They were always the treat I wanted when my mom went to the grocery store in the late 70s/early 80s. God I wish they would make them again. Nothing compares to them!!
Omg I remember these chips! I loved them I asked everyone if they remembered these and no one remembered. Loved the commercial with everyone crunching them saying Fantasticks! Bring them back please!!!!
Loved Fantasticks ... They were bright orange and tasted like todays Onion rings crisps ... My mam used to buy them for me from Presto's as well as a box of Twiglets and a Texan bar..... Mmmmmm those were the days!!!!!
I remember these, but I was beginning to think I was making them up cause no body else had heard of them. But I remember them being delicious!! I wish they would bring them back!!

I remember them too.I used to eat them when I was in elementary school .Never forget taste and light color..
I was just talking about these. I used to buy Fantastics at the Jiffee Mart in Staunton, Va. when I was a kid. I do not remember another cheesy snack except those waffle cheese wafers that I also can not get any longer. Used to buy those and a large cherry Charm sucker.
