I have told the story, millions of times to friends and even my second husband of how my child hood friend and I would walk a mile to the grocery store and buy a Family size bag and have a "potato chip party". My FAVORITE WAS SOUR CREAM AND ONION DORITOS!!!!! Every one I have met my age and older do not recall, but-I still see that yellow and green Doritoes bag in my dreams. Whoa....I can ALMOST taste them even...If only they could just bring the EXACT, flavor and TACO as well -back not mixed up with the freaky new flavors....Do I have to pull my cancer survivor card just to get them back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, at any rate. I maintain that they were THE BEST flavor and, I just proved to my husband that they existed since I found them on the computer. I just guess they will stay a tearful memory of happier times, on a blanket, looking up at the sky until blue spots floated in my eyes after eating so many chips.....ah---what a BEAUTIFUL memory.

I too have fond memories of sour cream and onion dorito's. I rememebr as a kid my cousins and I would take our empty soda bottles back to the store for a 10 cents deposit and buying bag after bag after bag of sour cream and onion dirotos, back the they were 25 cents a bad so we'd collect as many bottles as we culd to buy as many doritos as we could...Imagine my surprise wehn one day I went to the corner store and found out they were no longer on the market!!! I believe I fainted and thought the clerk was playing some kind of cruel joke and me. But as fate would have it, yes they stopped making them...to this day I long for the flavor of sour craem and onion dorito's....nothing else will ever compare....ever...

I too remember my childhood days of playing in the sun and enjoying numerous bags of sour cream and onion doritos. I can't believe the stopped producing them. My heart broke. No one other than the few people (my sister and two cousins)who experienced them with me remember them. I can't believe it. How can such a chip with such a wonderful taste go unremembered. Everybody including my husband thought I was crazy until I found this page. I'm so excited. I tried to tell my husband that new ones weren't the same (when they briefly tried to replace them a few years ago).Anybody remember that? I shall continue to long for that fabulous flavor until they can oneday be reproduced the correct way.

Sour Cream andOnion Doritos were the best tasting product that Frito Lay ever produced. Naturally, they took them off the market. :-( I wish they would bring the flavor back.

This is amazing! For a while there, I thought that maybe I was dreaming. To find other people that remember them is great. I loved those Sour Cream and Onion Doritos and I would love to see them come back. They were a heck of a lot bettr than Sweet Chili or any of these new ones. They need to bring 'em back. If it's not broke, don't fix it.

I too am on the internet proving to my brother who is three years younger than me that we use to eat Doritos in a Green bag and the taste like you all said was very good is anyone sure as to why Frito Lay took them off the market??? Or some have said that they denied ever making them go on you tube and see the commerical for yourself..................I want them now

Wow my dream was to have a closet full of them on the pull off racks. I used to eat the whole bag and would dream of having more. Till this day I still think of them every time I get a bag of cool ranch.

I remember in the 80's playing Little League. I'd get .50 cents to get a bag of chips. I recall the little clear window with the Green Onion picture on it. I remember reading the back of the big bags with all the mouth watering stories of how they select the finest onion with premium sour cream & all that. The BEST Dorito ever! I contacted Frito Lay & they said it just didn't sell well. But it's been like 20 years, times have a changed. I've since given up Doritos, and vowed never to buy another bag until Sour Cream & Onion comes back with the original recipe--they have a "Fusion" with some SC & O, but that's not the same. I'm still waiting Frito Lay!

My aunt used to come pick my older sister up for weekends...I always loved those weekends because she would bring my a 2 liter of Pepsi (I grew up in a Coca Cola household) and a BIG GREEN BAG of Sour Cream and Onion Doritos. Between that and getting rid of my sister for the weekend -- WHOA, good time! I just tried one of their new "Collisions" that was Cheesy Enchilada and Sour Cream -- close, but no cigar. I WANT MY CHIPS BACK!

I too thought I was crazy for a second, that no one else seem to remeber them but me. I remember them from my childhood. When my sister and I would be outside playing and we would walk to the store and get a couple of bags of them, eatting them while walking back from the store. They use to come in a green bag and I use to eat bags of them just about everyday when I would come home from school also. I never really understood why Frito Lay took them off the market. They were the best Doritos that I have ever eaten. I really do not like the sour cream and onion they have mixed with the Cheessy enchilada.

Never a better tasting chip. Once in a while a sour cream chip was made but nothing copares with the original real McCoy.

I remembered the sour cream Doritos... loved them. They didn't seem to stay on the market long... I think I recall them from the mid 70s. Then I was on vacation in Maui in the mid 90s... and there were sour cream and onion Doritos everywhere. Not sure if they're still on the market there, but evidently enough Hawaiians liked them. Strange how they were pulled from the mainland. Maybe it has something to do with LOST. (Oh... and they were still damn good!)

I sent a letter to Frito Lay with this link and several others letting them know how much they are missed and to please, please consider bringing them back. There's also a Facebook page! Write them!

Thank the lord someone else remembers these chips. I once wrote a letter to Doritos. They would not tell me why they stopped making them or if they would start making them again. The pizza cravers ranch are pretty good.We all need to ban together as one and get Doritos to make them again and take those NASTY Guacamole ones away.

Used to get these in Murfreesboro TN in 1981-82 or so. I had a boyfriend who loved them and got me hooked. Definitely the best Dorito flavor by far.

YES!! Sour Cream & Onion Doritos were THE BEST!! I just bought a bag of the retro Taco flavor. It's ok but not the same in my opinion. I think if Frito Lay actually brought back the sour cream & onion, it probably wouldn't be as good as the original. Only one way to find out. BRING EM BACK!!!

I am so glad I am not the only person who remembers the green and white bag of Doritos that were a staple in many homes back in the day. Of all the Doritos, why this flavor has not made a greattt! return, baffles me and all of you too. Doritos presidents and CEO's should make it a point to grant our request, they would not be sorry, I'm sure of that. Bring them back, bring them back, bring them back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember fondly the taste of Sour Cream and Onion Doritos. I used to eat them by tyhe bag full when I lived in Dayton Ohio back in the late 70's. there was one major problem with them that fans forget to mention.. Because of all of the flavorings that doritos used on them, they gave you very bad breath. your breath smelled like you eat a whole bail of garlic the day afterwards. fix that, but bring SC&O flavor back.

Oh dear god; they are back as a limited edition. Spotted in the Seattle area at Albertson's and Safeway. Bag is as I remember, but no clear window, The chips themselves are as I remember; green flakes, the divine subtlety of flavoring.....ahhh. Thanks so much Frito Lay! I had not had these since Carter was president!

Those new chips are not the same as those last seen in 81, they are blah cool ranch in a different bag. Maybe if there was no less than 5x more seasoning they might be yet only remotely similar to the original. We've been asking for years, then this is what we get. Forget Frito Lay entirely.

I love Doritos! Always have...and I remember those Sour Cream and Onion flavored ones. Yum! I was SO happy when they brought them back briefly, but not all the grocery stores in my area (Oakland) carried them. They were really good! I wish they made them all the time, not just for a limited run.

One of my favorite all time Doritos flavor as a child. Why discontinue something that was a hit. Bring this flavor back !!! Please ☺
