Description
The "steak" sandwich was more like an oval-shaped burger on a long bun WITH 2 onion rings built in! And yes--the Carl's fries from the 70's were the best (better than McD's)!

Actually, the Steak Sandwich wasn't bad, but I loved the Hot Dogs and the Roast Beef sandwich with melted swiss cheese and a slice of Ortega Chili. The fries were the best - in fact If I got a burger anywhere else, like Burger King, I would then go to Carls Jr. for fries. They were the BOMB!

The Steak Sandwich was awesome, with that spreadable steak sauce/butter...yummm! And the fries, Oh how I long for those fries! With the little boxy container of ketchup instead of a packet. Those fries were made out of a stiff mashed potato type concoction and then extruded out and fried. That's why they were so damn good!

As of sometime in late 2008 or early in 2009, Carl's Jr. brought back the steak sandwich, this time with 100% sirloin. Call me a skeptic, but I think that it's doubtful that a fast-food joint would use sirloin and still keep prices reasonable. It comes with two onion rings, as mentioned above and seems to be the same as mentioned above, except without the spreadable sauce. It is good, but not great, as far as I am concerned.

It was the sauce that made it...the 2000's version never came close in my opinion.

The steak sandwich was excellent to say the least. I wish they would bring it back here in L.A. (SFV)

I don't remember the sandwich much, but I have vivid memories of the styrofoam container it came in, because they made perfect coffins to bury small household pets. Yeah, gross, I know - but that was the custom in our SoCal household: Hamster died? Off to Carl's!
